Migrating from Free to Enterprise Version of Checklist for Jira

How to Migrate from Free to the Enterprise Version of Checklist

Upgrading from the Free version to the Enterprise version is simple. All checklist data stays on your Jira instance, so nothing is lost during the process.

Step 1: Install the Enterprise Version

  • Go to the Atlassian Marketplace and install the Enterprise version of Checklist.

  • After installing, youโ€™ll see both Free and Enterprise checklists on your tickets โ€” this is temporary.

Step 2: Manually Migrate Global Templates (If Used)

Global Templates are tied to the specific app that created them. Since the Free and Enterprise versions are treated as separate apps by Jira, the Enterprise version cannot read or access Global Templates created by the Free version. Thatโ€™s why this step must be done manually:

  1. Go to the Global Templates section in the Free version

  2. Copy each templateโ€™s content manually

  3. Open the Global Templates section in the Enterprise version

  4. Paste the copied content to recreate the templates

Do this before uninstalling the Free version.

Step 3: Uninstall the Free Version

Once:

  • The Enterprise version is working correctly

  • Any Global Templates (if used) have been manually copied over

Then:

  • Go to Jira > Manage Apps

  • Find the Free version of the Checklist and uninstall it

This will remove any duplicate checklists and leave only the Enterprise version active.

Final Checklist

โœ… Enterprise version installed and visible
โœ… Global Templates (if any) copied to Enterprise
โœ… Free version uninstalled
โœ… Checklists display correctly on tickets
